Jungles and Whales - Honduras
Day 1: Land in San Pedro Sula - transfer to La Ceiba.
Day 2: Ferry to Utila, 18 miles (29 km) from the Honduras mainland port of La Ceiba. Utila is 11 km long and 4 km at its widest and surrounded by vast coral reefs with prolific undersea life. The smallest of the major islands in The Bay Islands group, Utila is a world-renown diving destination with a lively night scene that attracts visitors worldwide. The island borders on the Mesoamerican barrier reef system (the 2nd largest reef in the world after the Australian Great Barrier Reef), where whale sharks are protected and seen year-round.
Days 3 -5: Diving days. These three days can be used to get PADI certified diving, take an advanced course, dive among the islands 100+ sites, and do night or day diving.
Day 6: Transfer to the mainland to a jungle lodge in Pico Bonito National Park.
Day 7: Class III-V whitewater rafting down the Cangrejal river from jungle river lodge. The Rio Cangrejal is a technical river with many challenging rapids making it one of the best rivers to raft in Central America. This exhilarating adventure takes you down through a series of rapids led by our highly trained guides. Each tour begins with a brief training session where the guides give you all the information you will need to have a safe and enjoyable journey. You will be provided with a life jacket and paddle and do not need to bring anything except clothes that can get soaked!
Day 8: Jungle exploration day - choose between waterfall hike or jungle mountain biking in Pico Bonito National Park.
Day 9: Transfer to San Pedro Sula/Tegulcigapa.
Day 10: Flyout.
